What we do?
Asthma & Bronchitis Association of India functions from its Office at St. George’s Hospital, A public Hospital in South Mumbai (India). We offer Holistic treatment & address community dimensions. Diagnosis & Treatment of Asthma, Allergy testing Rehabilitation by exercises, Yoga & Outdoor treks. Awareness & Educate by Lectures, Exhibitions, Seminars, Films & Asthma Camps.
We aim to reduce numbers of Asthma Attacks & its progression by regular treatment to follow-up & precautions of triggers of Asthma. Our Care also helps to reduce cost for Asthmatics by avoiding hospitalisation.
Diagnose the Asthma
Early symptoms include frequent cough especially at night, losing your breath easily or shortness of breath wheezing or coughing after exercises, Feeling very tired or weak when exercising. The decrease in function of your lung or changes in air tubes can be measured a simple instrument called Peak Flow Meter. Asthma patient is normal in between attacks, unlike chronic bronchitis patients.
Asthma OPD
We offer consultation (OPD) on every Wednesday & Friday by appointment. Chest physician gives services to only fixed number of patients. Seen to give best attention PFT/Lung Function Test done on its visit, Allergy Test (Skin Test) if advised by doctor done by an appointment. All charges are very concessional.

Medicines on Asthma & equipment offered at discount. Informative literature was given to educate patients on prevention & rehabilitation free of cost.

Treks & Sporty Walkathon
The most novel & vibrant activity of the A.B.A.I. is organization of hikes/treks/ excursions for its members to instil confidence in them. A group member is taken to various mountains, forts such as Karnala, Peth Fort, Duke’s Nose, Bhaardara, Yeur, W.T.C., Alibaag, Lohagad on a hike. This programme is immensely popular & beneficial & very much in demand, indicative of its success in ‘YOU TOO CAN DO IT.
Nebulizer Bank
This is unique activity of the A.BA.I. It has a nebulizer bank from which members, who cannot afford to buy a nebulizer, borrow a nebulizer at a nominal charge. There are adequate number of nebulizers so that patients can take them home for a certain period & return the same after their need is over.
Education & Training
Printed brochures distribute all information about Asthma & Chronic Bronchitis (free). Patients are demonstrated relevant exercise, yoga by special sessions/lecture. Medical Camps, Awareness Camps, Films, Lectures & exhibitions, do social reach.
